COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES Weatherly 620 Series Aeroplanes 10/96 TLX Requirement: Inspect all four P/N 40852-001 wing hinge pins which join the main spar of the wing to the centre section. Inspect the depth of the threaded end, the overall length, and the position of each pin in accordance with Weatherly Aviation Company Service Note No. 15, dated July 17, 1996. Replace defective pins and re-position mis-aligned pins in accordance with Service Note No. 15 and the aircraft maintenance manual. Note: FAA AD 96-16-06, issued by Priority Letter on 26 July 1996, refers. Compliance: Before further flight after the effective date of this directive, which is 2 August 1996. Background: The wing hinge pins connect the wings to the fuselage. Some pins may have been made too short; others may have been installed off centre. Either defect could dangerously weaken the wing joint.
