SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
General Electric Turbine Engines - CF6 Series
AD/CF6/49 High Pressure Compressor 3-9 Spool - Inspection 3/2003
Applicability: General Electric CF6-45/50/80A/80C2/80E1 series engines as identified in FAA AD 2002-25-08.
Requirement: Carry out the initial inspection and repetitive inspections per the requirements of FAA AD 2002-25-08.
Note: FAA AD 2002-25-08 Amdt 39-12984 refers. This Directive supersedes AD/CF6/41 Amdt 1 (FAA AD 99-24-15) and AD/CF6/43 Amdt 1 (FAA AD 2000-16-
12).
Compliance: As detailed in the Requirement document with a revised effective date of this Directive.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 20 March 2003.
Background: This Directive harmonises the additional inspection requirements contained in two earlier Directives. These additional inspections, derived from service experience, help to prevent uncontained engine failures.
