COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 106 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES Teledyne Continental Motors Piston Engines AD/CON/70 Carburettor Air Intake Housing 1/94 Applicability: Teledyne Continental Motors (TCM) C85, C90, O-200A, O-200B and O-240 model engines as detailed in TCM Critical Service Bulletin Number CSB93-13. Note: This Directive is only applicable to TCM C85, C90, O-200A, O-200B and O- 240 engines fitted with carburettor air intake housing assemblies or P/N 641689 repair kit assemblies that were purchased from TCM between the dates of 1 September 1991 and 30 June 1993, and certain O-200A engines listed by serial number in CSB93-13. Requirement: Action in accordance with Teledyne Continental Motors Critical Service Bulletin Number CSB93-13. Note: FAA Airworthiness Directive 93-22-05 refers. Compliance: Effective 6 January 1994: INSPECTION PROCEDURE: Within 10 hours time in service and thereafter at intervals not to exceed 25 hours time in service until the carburettor air intake housing is replaced. REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS: Prior to installation in an aircraft. Note: Replacement of the affected carburettor air intake housing is the terminating action for this Directive. Background: This Directive requires the inspection, and removal from service, of certain carburettor air intake housings purchased from the manufacturer during the period September 1991 to June 1993. The requirement follows advice of cracks found in the affected air intake housings which could result in the loss of engine power due to the separation of the air valve or pieces of it.
