SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Diamond DA40 Series Aeroplanes
AD/DA40/2 Modify Fuel Filter Assembly 9/2003 TX
Applicability: Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH DA40D aircraft, serial numbers: 40.080, 40.084, D4.001 up to and including D4.020 and D4.037.
Requirement: Modify the fuel filter assembly in accordance with Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH DAI Mandatory Service Bulletin 40-023 dated 17 July 2003.
Note: Austrian Airworthiness Directive No. 115 refers.
Compliance: Before further flight.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 24 July 2003.
Background: The thermostat valve within the fuel filter assembly has malfunctioned leading to vapour lock of the fuel system causing a loss of engine power. This Directive requires a modification of the fuel filter system to prevent such a malfunction from occurring.
