Applicability: All models.
Wing/Fuselage Lower Main NK Root Joints - Inspection
Requirement: Inspect the wing to fuselage lower main root joints for corrosion, fretting and cracking in accordance with Hawker Siddeley Technical News Sheet Heron (114) No. W.9, Issue 5.
Note 1: Inspection of the fitting in accordance with Paras. 1.1 and 1.3 of the previous issue of this Directive is to be regarded as equivalent to compliance with TNS Heron (114) No. W.17.
Note 2: Fluorescent magnetic particle inspection in accordance with ANO 108.8 is an acceptable alternative to the eddy current check specified in Appendix 2 of TNS Heron (114) No. W.9, Issue 5.
Note 3: DoT eddy current technique ATC/NDI/EC2 may be used as an alternative to that specified in Appendix 2 to TNS Item (114) No. W.9, Issue 5.
