Utility Seat Forward Leg Positive Lock Installation 11/88
Applicability: All models with side folding cabin utility seats.
Requirement: Action in accordance with De Havilland Canada SB 3/42 Rev A.
Compliance: 1. Prior to the issue of the next Maintenance Release after 31 December 1987 and thereafter at each inspection for Maintenance Release issue until modified as detailed in SB 3/42 Rev A.
2. After each time the seats are moved from stowed to deployed position, until modified as above.
Note 1. This Compliance Para 2 inspection may be accomplished by the Pilot-In- Command, in which case the precise AD reference shall be entered in a certification made on the Maintenance Release.
Note 2. Canadian AD CF-85-03 R1 and FAA AD 88-15-08 refer.
Background: A sideways force applied to a utility seat forward leg could result in the leg being disengaged from the keyhole slot in the seat rail. Amendment 1 requires repeat inspection each time seats are deployed. SB 3/42 Rev A refers.
