COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
Bombardier (Boeing Canada/De Havilland) DHC-8 Series Aeroplanes
AD/DHC-8/39 Amdt 1
Outboard Flaps Front Spar and Top Skin Fasteners 1/96
Applicability: DHC-8 aircraft Model 301.
DHC-8 aircraft Models 311, 314, and 315, equipped with outboard flap assemblies without Modification 8/2066 installed, and with part numbers and serial numbers listed in the accompanying table of the Requirement Document.
Requirement: Action in accordance with the technical requirements of Transport Canada AD CF- 95-05R1.
A Flight Manual amendment is required.
Note: De Havilland SB 8-57-24 Revision A refers.
Compliance: As specified in the Requirement Document with a revised effective date of 4 January 1996.
Background: Reports have shown that incorrect rivets were used during manufacture of the affected flap assemblies. Incorrect rivets are replaced with ones of higher strength for the Models 311, 314, and 315, and the flap extended speed, VFE, is permanently reduced for the Model 301.
Amendment 1 is issued in response to a revision of the Requirement Document which addresses short compliance time concerns as well as the resources required for the structural modification.
