COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY
SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
Background: Transport Canada Civil Aviation has advise that there have been incidents of in-flight selection of ground Beta on DHC-8 aeroplanes, one of which led to an engine failure. In addition, the in-flight selection of ground Beta may lead to propeller overspeed.
This Directive requires modification of the aeroplane to incorporate a Beta warning horn. The warning horn operates when a flight idle gate trigger is raised while either power lever is at any position on the quadrant and the aeroplane is above 20 feet.
