AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Diamond HK-36 Series Aeroplanes
AD/DIMO/1 Turbocharge Control Unit Software 9/2003
Applicability: HK 36 TTC-ECO powered sailplane with a Rotax 914 F series engine.
Requirement: Check the software version of the Turbocharge Control Unit (TCU) in accordance with Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH Service Bulletin 66/1 dated 2 November 1999.
Note: Austro Control AD 99 refers.
Compliance: At each engine change or engine overhaul and each time the TCU is modified or replaced.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 4 September 2003.
Background: Austro Control has advised that following an engine change or TCU change, the TCU software version may not correspond with aircraft instrumentation configuration.
