Eurocopter EC 120 Series Helicopters
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
AD/EC 120/5 Rotor Flight Controls 11/2001 DM
Applicability: Model EC 120 B helicopters, serial number 1001 through 1029.
Requirement: 1. Check the attachment of the bolted assembly of the torque tube in accordance with paragraph 2.B.1 of Eurocopter EC 120 Alert Service Bulletin (ASB) 67A003.
If the aircraft is equipped with a torque tube with double locking, no further action is required.
2. If the aircraft is equipped with a torque tube with single locking:
1. Check the security of the bolted assembly of the torque tube in accordance with paragraph 2.B.2 of ASB 67A003; and,
b. Modify the torque tube attachments in accordance with paragraph 2.B.3 of ASB 67A003.
Note: DGAC AD 2001-373-008(A) refers.
Compliance: 1. Within 50 hours time in service after 5 September 2001.
2.a. Within 50 hours time in service after Requirement 1 compliance, and thereafter at intervals not to exceed 50 hours time in service until compliance with Requirement 2.b.
