COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY
SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Eurocopter AS 350 (Ecureuil) Series Helicopters
AD/ECUREUIL/76 Electrical Power 6/2002
Applicability: AS 350 version B3 helicopters without Modification 073146 embodied and with the following serial numbers:
3461 3463 3464 3467 3469
3471 3472 3473 3475 3477
3478 3479 3484 3485 3486
3493 3494 3511 3522
Requirement: Remove the shunt from connector 38 Delta b in accordance with Eurocopter Alert Service Bulletin 24.00.09 dated 18 March 2002.
Note: DGAC AD 2002-187-090(A) refers.
Compliance: Within 100 hours time in service after the effective date of this Directive.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 13 June 2002.
Background: The French Direction Générale de l'Aviation Civile has advised that helicopters using the basic 150 Amp electrical power generating system may be fitted with a cable loom designed for the optional 200 Amp system. This wiring anomaly may induce an overload of the electrical power generating system and can result in disconnection of the generator.
This directive requires the correction of the wiring error at connector 38 Delta b.
James Coyne
Delegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority 3 May 2002
The above AD is notified in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 22 May 2002.
