AD/EMB-120/27 Amdt 3 - Icing Conditions (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/EMB-120/27 Amdt 2 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Embraer EMB-120 (Brasilia) Series Aeroplanes

Icing Conditions 7/2002 TX

Applicability: All Model Embraer EMB-120 aeroplanes.

Requirement: 1. Superseded by new Requirements 6 through 11 below.

2. Superseded by new Requirement 4 below.

3. Remove leading edge deice boots inflation cycle control "light-heavy" switch as per the requirements detailed in Embraer SB 120-30-0032.

4. Remove the placards that were installed in accordance with Requirement 2 and install new placards on the main instrument panel, in accordance with Part 1 of either SB 120-30-0033 Rev 01 dated 6 September 2001, Rev 02 dated 14 September 2002 or Rev 03 dated 22 October 2001, with the following wording:

Whenever ice is detected: immediately turn deice boots on

5. Install a low speed aural/visual alarm system in the center glare shield in accordance with SB 120-30-0033 Rev 01 dated 6 September 2001, Rev 02 dated 14 September 2002 or Rev 03 dated 22 October 2001.

Note 1: This system should be installed after or together with removal of the leading edge boots inflation cycle control "light-heavy" switch, as per Requirement 3.
