AD/EMB-120/31 Amdt 2 - Flight Attendant Oxygen (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/EMB-120/31 Amdt 1 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Flight Attendant Oxygen 11/2002

Applicability: All EMB-120( ) models equipped with a lavatory installed in the forward part of the passenger cabin.

Requirement: If not previously accomplished in accordance with Amendment 1 of this Directive, establish a new maximum altitude operating limitation by amending the Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM) Limitations Section as follows:

"Maximum operating altitude is limited to 25,000 ft unless the right hand front row aisle passenger seat is reserved for flight attendant use during operation above 25 000 ft."

or alternately,

Install an oxygen dispensing unit, with an oxygen mask permanently attached, under the fight attendant seat, in accordance with the detailed instructions and procedures of Embraer Service Bulletin No. 120-25-0264 Revision 1 dated 22 July 2002 and establish the following operational limitation by amending the AFM Limitations Section as follows:

"Maximum operating altitude with SB 120-25-0264 Revision 1 incorporated is limited to 30 000 ft, unless the RH front row aisle passenger seat is reserved for flight attendant use during operation above 30 000 ft."
