AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Extra EA-300 Series Aeroplanes
AD/EXTRA/8 Fuel Selector Valve Leakage 7/2003
TX
Applicability: Extra EA300S, EA300L and EA200 aeroplanes.
Requirement: Carry out an inspection and if necessary repairs of the fuel selector valve in accordance with Extra Flugzeugbau GmbH service Letter 300-09-02.
Note: LBA AD 2002-408 refers.
Compliance: Prior to the next aerobatic flight.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 9 May 2003.
Background: There has been several reports of the fuel selector valve not operating correctly. A faulty fuel selector valve can allow fuel to drain from the centre tank to the wing tanks, which must be empty for aerobatics.
