For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/F100/52 Amdt 1 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

AD/F100/52
Amdt 2
Passenger Door Status Lights 3/2003
Applicability: Model F.28 Mk.0070 and Mk.0100 aeroplanes with serial numbers listed in Fokker Service Bulletin (SB) F100-52-069 Revision 3 dated 18 December 2002.
Requirement: Install additional passenger door status light indicators and new placards in accordance with Section 2, Part 1, 2 or 3 (as applicable) of SB F100-52-069 Revision 3.
Note 1: The following Fokker Services' Manual Change Notifications, both dated 3 December 2001, also pertain to this subject:
Maintenance Documentation (MCNM) F100-064, and Operational Documentation (MCNO) F100-031.
Note 2: CAA-NL (Netherlands) AD (BLA) 2002-057 (A) refers.
Compliance: Before 1 December 2004.
This Amendment becomes effective on 20 March 2003.
Background: The CAA-NL of The Netherlands has advised that several instances have been reported of Fokker 100 'airstair' type passenger doors opening during flight.
Investigations have concluded that these instances were not due to defects in the design of the operating mechanism or the warning system, but were probably the result of incorrect use of the locking handle.
The original issue of this Directive required additional door status indicator lights designed to improve the cabin crew awareness of the status of the door locking and latching system. At the same time, the Directive required the installation of new placards improving the presentation of normal and emergency door operating procedures.
Amendment 1 required the addition of two diodes to the door status electrical circuits.
This Amendment requires an additional relay installation instead of using a new switch.
