COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES Reims Aviation F406 Series Aeroplanes AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section. AD/F406/4 Engine Fuel Lines 6/2001 TX Applicability: Reims F406 aircraft, serial numbers F406-0001 to F406-0086 Requirement: 1. Inspect fuel lines, P/N AE 7013108 H 0155 and AE 7013108 G 0105, in accordance with REIMS AVIATION Service Bulletin CAB01-6 dated 26 March 2001. The affected fuel lines are located between the firewall and the engine. If the nuts on the end of the fuel lines are black or grey in colour, no further action is required. Make on appropriate entry in the aircraft log book and release the aircraft to service. If the nuts are blue or yellow in colour, comply with Requirement 2 of this Directive. 2 (a). For fuel lines with end nuts that are blue or yellow in colour, inspect the nuts for cracks in accordance with REIMS AVIATION Service Bulletin CAB01-6 dated 26 March 2001. If a nut is found cracked the affected fuel line must be replaced with a serviceable fuel line of the correct type before further flight. 2 (b). Replace fuels lines that have end nuts that are blue or yellow in colour. Note: DGAC AD 2001-131(A) refers. Compliance: 1. Unless previously accomplished, before further flight after the effective date of this Airworthiness Directive. 2 (a). Unless previously accomplished, before further flight after the effective date of this Airworthiness Directive and thereafter at intervals not to exceed 20 flying hours. 2 (b). Within 30 days of the effective date of this Airworthiness Directive. Installation of fuel lines of the correct type constitutes terminating action for this Airworthiness Directive. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 14 April 2001. Non-compliant fuel lines have been found with cracked end nuts. Nut failure could result in an in-flight fire.
