COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 107 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
Fire Protection Equipment
AD/FPE/10 Portable Fire Extinguisher 4/93
Applicability: All Cabin Portable Fire Extinguishers Halon 1211 and Water Glycol, manufactured by Fire Fighting Enterprises (UK) Ltd with Discharge Head and Extinguisher Part Numbers listed in the Requirement Document.
Requirement: Action in accordance with Fire Fighting Enterprises (UK) Ltd Alert Service Bulletin A26-106.
Note: UK CAA Mandatory.
Compliance: Unless already accomplished, prior to 1 July 1993 for the In Service check, and prior to 1 October 1993 for the safety catch replacement.
Background: The manufacturer has determined that due to a build up of adverse tolerances in the discharge head assembly, it may be possible for the frangible plug on the siphon tube assembly to be broken with the safety catch down in the secure position, thus allowing extinguishant to escape into the discharge head void. This could be caused by inadvertent squeezing or knocks on the trigger without the FULL indicator disc being broken.
