AD/FU24/31 Amdt 1
Elevator Hinge and Attachment Fittings 8/95
Applicability: All models with elevator hinge fitting part number 242220 and/or elevator attachment fitting part number 243008 installed.
Requirement: 1. Examine the elevator attachment fittings for cracking and corrosion, paying particular attention to the rivet holes in the transverse flange.
2. Examine the elevator hinge fittings for cracking and corrosion, particularly in the vicinity of the hinge bolt holes.
Note: To prevent the start of intercrystalline corrosion and subsequent failure due to stress corrosion, attention is drawn to the necessity for preserving the original protective treatment on all such parts, particularly when used in the corrosive environment associated with agricultural aircraft.
Compliance: At intervals not to exceed 500 hours time in service.
The Compliance of the initial issue of this Directive remains unchanged. This Amendment is effective from 20 July 1995.
Background: In-service experience of cracking prompted the need for this inspection.
Amendment 1 is issued to restrict applicability to aircraft with aluminium fittings installed.
