COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/HS 748/24 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
British Aerospace (Hawker Siddeley) HS 748 Series Aeroplanes
AD/HS 748/24 Amdt 1
Aileron, Rudder and Elevator Cable Tension Regulators and Gust Locks
12/2001
Applicability: All HS 748 aircraft without Modification 7670 incorporated.
Requirement: Inspect in accordance with BAe Systems Mandatory Service Bulletin HS748-27-126 Revision 3.
Note: UK CAA AD 005-02-96 refers.
Compliance: Unless already accomplished, within 400 flying hours or 6 months after 23 April 1998, whichever occurs first. Repeat thereafter at intervals not to exceed 400 flying hours or 6 months, whichever occurs first; until incorporation of Service Bulletin HS748-27-129 (modification 7670).
The initial inspection compliance time remains unchanged by this issue. This Amendment becomes effective on 29 November 2001. Background: In-service experience has shown that it is possible for the aileron, rudder, and elevator cable tension regulators and gust locks to jam, leaving the associated primary control cable in an untensioned condition.
