AD/HU 269/57 Amdt 4 - Centre Frame Aft Cluster Fitting (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/HU 269/57 Amdt 3 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Centre Frame Aft Cluster Fitting 6/2004

Applicability: Model 269A, 269A-1, 269B, 269C, and 269C-1 helicopters, with a centre frame aft cluster fitting, part number 269A2234, 269A2234-3, 269A2235, or 269A2235-3, installed.

Requirement: 1. Accomplish the following:

1. Chemically remove paint from the clevis lugs on each centre frame aft cluster fitting. Wash with water and dry.

b. Dye-penetrant inspect the clevis lugs on each aft cluster fitting.

c. If a crack is found, before further flight, replace the cracked aft cluster fitting with a serviceable part number 269A2234-3 or 269A2235-3 aft cluster fitting, as applicable.

d. If no cracking is found, clean the aft cluster fitting and repaint.

2. Replace each aft cluster part number 269A2234 and part number 269A2235 not modified in accordance with Kit part number SA-269K-106-1 with part number 269A2234 and 269A2235 aft cluster fittings modified in accordance with Kit part number SA-269K-106-1; or with aft cluster fittings part number 269A2234-3 and 269A2235-3.
