Note 2: Incorporation of Astra Service Bulletin 1125-25-177 dated 2 October 1998 or Revision 1 dated 19 October 1998 is considered an optional alternate means of compliance with this Directive. Following installation of the improved blankets, in accordance with either Service Bulletin, the placard and circuit breaker tags required by this Directive must be removed.
Compliance: The original compliance remains unchanged as 'Before next flight'.
This Amendment becomes effective on 20 May 1999.
Background: IAI has reported incidents of overheating of the cargo compartment heating blankets causing delamination, heat damage and burn marks to the blankets and the baggage compartment liner. Actions specified by the original issue of this Directive were intended to prevent in flight fires caused by overheating blankets.
