AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Israel Aircraft Industries 1125 (Astra) Series Aeroplanes
AD/IAI-A/14 Starter Generator Electrical Cables 10/2002
Applicability: Models 1125 Astra and Astra SPX aeroplanes with serial numbers 004 to 141 inclusive.
Requirement: 1. Visually inspect and carry out electrical checks of the right and left starter generator electrical cables in accordance with Part A of Gulfstream Service Bulletin (SB) 100-54-252 dated 24 April 2002.
2. If, during the Requirement 1 inspection and electrical check, damage to the cable(s) is not found, replace the cables support(s) in accordance with Part B of SB 100-54-252.
3. If, during the Requirement 1 inspection and electrical check, damage to the cable(s) is found, replace the cable support(s) and electrical cable(s) in accordance with Part C of SB 100-54-252.
Note: Israel CAA AD 54-02-06-12 refers.
Compliance: For Requirement 1 - Within 250 hours time in service after the effective date of this Directive.
For Requirement 2 - At the next engine removal.
For Requirement 3 - Prior to the next flight following the Requirement 1 inspection/check.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 3 October 2002.

AD/IAI-A/14 (continued)
Background: This Directive initially requires inspection and electrical checking of the starter generator electrical cables and, if necessary, replacement of any damaged cables. The Directive also requires the replacement of the cable support. These actions are intended to prevent cable chafing and possible electrical arcing in the vicinity of a fuel line.
