COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Israel Aircraft Industries 1125 (Astra) Series Aeroplanes
AD/IAI-A/18 Nose Wheel Steering Assembly Brackets 1/2004 DM
Applicability: Models 1125, ASTRA SPX, and G100 aircraft, serial numbers 004, 011 through 147, and 149.
Requirement: Action in accordance with the Accomplishment Instructions of Gulfstream Aerospace Alert Service Bulletin No. 100-32A-275.
Note: Israel CAA AD 32-03-10-05 refers.
Compliance: Within 50 flight hours or 25 landings after 26 November 2003, whichever occurs first.
Inspect thereafter in accordance with Aircraft Maintenance Manual Temporary Revision 32-14.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 26 November 2003.
Background: Three operators have reported failure of the nose wheel steering brackets, with one failure resulting in loss of steering control. Investigation found the cause was excessive torsional forces applied to the steering assembly. This can result from towing the aircraft with the torque links connected.
