SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
Kawasaki BK 117 Series Helicopters
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
AD/JBK 117/18 One Engine Inoperative Performance Check 6/2000

Applicability: All Model BK 117 B1 or B2 helicopters fitted with LTS101-750B-1 engines equipped with an acceleration schedule biasing system incorporated by field compliance with SB LTS101B-73-10-0133 or, where the engine is identified by suffix "B" after the engine serial number, or engines fitted with FCU P/N 4-301-413-02, -03 or -04.
Requirement: 1. Affix placards in accordance with the instructions contained paragraph 9 (1) of Kawasaki SB KSB-117-161.
2. Revise the Limitation section of the JCAB approved flight manual to include the following wording.
Heating system/ECS
The flight manual amendment action required by this Directive may be accomplished by inserting a copy of this Directive in the Flight Manual Limitation Section facing page 2.20.
3. Install cap P/N AN929-4J, MS51532B4S or equivalent on pressure ratio switch elbow P/N MS51522B4S as detailed in paragraph 9. (2) of Kawasaki SB KSB- 117-161. Upon installation of the cap remove placard restricting Heater/ECS operation.
Note 1: Altitude Limitation placards must remain in place until further notice. Note 2: JCAB AD TCD-5097A-99 refers.

SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
Compliance: 1. Unless previously carried out, before the next flight after the effective date of this Directive.
2. Unless previously carried out, before further flight after the effective date of this Directive.
3. Unless previously carried out, within 5 flight hours or by 20 June 2000, whichever occurs first, after the effective date of this Directive.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 20 May 2000.
Background: The manufacturer has advised that, in single engine operations, power may be limited with the heating or environmental control system in operation.
