COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY
SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
British Aerospace BAe 3100 (Jetstream) Series Aeroplanes
AD/JETSTREAM/54
Amdt 2
Ignition - Auto-Relight Magnetic Latching Relays
5/93
Applicability: Series 3100 and 3200 aircraft with constructors numbers in the range 693 to 870 inclusive, which incorporate an engine automatic ignition system in accordance with British Aerospace customer requirement kit JK 2496 or modification JM 7537.
Requirement: Action in accordance with Jetstream Aircraft Limited Service Bulletin 74-JM 7693A Revision 3 dated 28 January 1993.
Note: This Service bulletin has been classified as Mandatory by the CAA(UK).
Compliance: The compliance date of the original issue of this Directive was 28 February 1993.
Action required by this amendment is to be completed prior to 30 June 1993.
Background: Operators have reported cases of the auto-ignition facility being disabled when changing from ground power to internal power during ground start procedures. Corrective action is provided by this Directive, which mandates introduction of magnetically latching relays, together with wiring changes, to replace the existing electrically latching relays.
This amendment is issued to reflect a change in the requirement document which introduces wiring revisions to suit aircraft with any water methanol or water methanol/power augmentation system installed. Aircraft fitted with any water methanol or water methanol/power augmentation system, that have complied with previous issues of this Directive, will require rework.
