COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
Lancair Series Aeroplanes
AD/LANCAIR/3 Fibre Composite Primary Structure 2/98
CANCELLED.
Background: The Authority became aware of deficiencies in the kit manufacturer's system of quality control. As a result, the material properties used in the LANCAIR kits became suspect. AD/LANCAIR/3 was raised to restrict the flight envelope of the aircraft pending an investigation into the effect of these changes. The results of the investigation showed that the material is presently suitable for the current aircraft certification standard. Concerns with potential aging properties of the material will be separately addressed.
