Federal Register of Legislation
COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
Gates Learjet 35 and 36 Series Aeroplanes
AD/LEARJET 35/34 Amdt 1
Auxiliary Cabin Heater Wiring 6/98
Applicability: Model 35A aeroplanes with serial numbers 35-647 through 35-670 inclusive.
Requirement: Replace two segments of 16 American Wire Gauge (AWG) wire with 8 AWG wire at connector P190 in accordance with Learjet Service Bulletin SB 35-21-24 Revision 1 dated 13 August 1996.
Note 1: Accomplishment of the replacement in accordance with the procedures specified in Learjet Service Bulletin SB 35-21-24 dated 6 September 1995, but using equipment that is identical or equivalent to that of the applicable kit specified in Revision 1 of the service bulletin is considered an acceptable method of compliance.
Note 2: FAA AD 98-06-28 Amdt 39-10406 refers.
Compliance: Prior to 31 August 1998.
This amendment becomes effective on 21 May 1998.
Background: Two segments of 16 AWG wire in the auxiliary cabin heater circuit provide inadequate current carrying capacity. This could lead to the wiring overheating and subsequent fire hazard. Replacement of the 16 AWG wire segments with 8 AWG wire segments is designed to ensure that the wire size is adequate for the circuit requirements.
This amendment is issued following advice from the Federal Aviation Administration that the socket contact supplied in the kit specified in the original service bulletin was an incorrect part number for use in connector P190.
The original issue of this airworthiness directive became effective on 15 August 1996.
