Battery Vent System 6/87 DM
Applicability: All Gates Learjet 24 and 25 series aircraft with the following S/Nos:
Group A - Learjet 24-218 and 24-230 to 24-357, Learjet 25-059, 25-061 and 25-066 to 25-373
Group B - Learjet 24-100 to 24-229 (except 24-218), Learjet 25-003 to 25-058 and 25-060
Requirement: 1. Inspect the interior of the battery cases for evidence of fuel contamination. If evidence of fuel contamination exists inspect the fuel drain valves forward of the battery compartment for evidence of leakage. Replace any defective fuel drain valves.
2. Modify the battery venting system according to the requirements of Gates Learjet SB 23/24/25-334B.

Compliance: (a) For Para 1 and Group A Aircraft:
Within 25 hours time in service after 31 May 1986 and thereafter at intervals not exceeding 50 hours time in service until modified in accordance with paragraph 2 of this Requirement.
For Para 2 and Group A Aircraft:
Within 200 hours time in service after 31 May 1986.
(b) For Para 1 and Group B aircraft:
Within 25 hours time in service after 4 June 1987 and thereafter at intervals not exceeding 50 hours time in service until modified in accordance with paragraph 2 of this Requirement.
For Para 2 and Group B aircraft:
Within 200 hours time in service after 4 June 1987.
Background: 1. To prevent fuel from being drawn into the battery vent system in the event of a fuel leak at the lower side of the fuselage. An instance of significant contamination has been reported from overseas.
