COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/MU-2/60 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CAR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section. Mitsubishi MU-2 Series Aeroplanes AD/MU-2/60 Amdt 1 De-Ice System Modification 12/2002 Applicability: Mitsubishi MU-2B, MU-2B-10, -15, -20, -25, -26 S/N 008 to 347 inclusive, except S/N 313 and 321. Mitsubishi MU-2B-30, -35, -36 S/N 501 to 696 inclusive, except S/N 652 and 661. Requirement: Modify the Pneumatic De-Ice system Monitoring System and revise the flight manual in accordance with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) MU-2 Service Bulletin 232 Revision A. Note 1: JCAB AD TCD-4626-97 refers. Compliance: Unless previously accomplished; within 6 months from the effective date of this Directive. Note 2: Aircraft in compliance with Service Bulletin 232 require no further action. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 28 November 2002. Background: This Directive is mandated to ensure that the flight crew is advised of proper functioning of the de- ice system. The system informs the flight crew that the wing and tail pneumatic de- ice boot systems are receiving pressure when the WING DE- ICER switch is selected ON. This amendment includes changes to the manufacturers service bulletin. This change clarifies the parts requirements for the installation of the de- icer system. The original issue of this Directive became effective 6 November 1997.
