AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/A330/22 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Airbus Industrie A330 Series Aeroplanes AD/A330/22 Amdt 1 Flight Manual Amendment - Fuel 3/2006 TX Leak Procedure
Applicability: AIRBUS A330-200 and A330-300 aeroplanes. Requirement: Insert into the Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM) the following Temporary Revision (TR):
• For A330-200 series aircraft: AFM TR 4.02.00/31
• For A330-300 series aircraft: AFM TR 4.02.00/32
Note 1: These AFM TR's will be incorporated in the next general revision of AFM.
Note 2: DGAC AD F-2005-195 EASA Approval No 2005-6415 dated 29 November 2005 refers. Compliance: Before further flight from the effective date of this AD. This Amendment becomes effective on 31 January 2006. Background: An A330-200 series aeroplane, with Rolls Royce engines installed, was diverted following an extensive fuel leak. During the diversion, both engines shutdown due to lack of fuel. The resulting emergency landing was successful. Fuel management by the flight crew was considered to have directly contributed to the total loss of fuel.
