AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Gippsland Aeronautics GA8 Series Aeroplanes
AD/GA8/4 Seat Track Stops 4/2006
Applicability: All GA8 serial numbers up to S/N GA8-05-088.
Requirement: Modify the seat track stops in accordance with Gippsland Aeronautics Service Bulletin SB-GA8-2005-29 Issue 2 or later approved revision.
Compliance: To be complied with at the next periodic inspection after 30 April 2006.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 13 April 2006.
Background: The current location of the pilot and second occupant seat stops is such that, at either seat's most forward position, aft movement of the control column can be restricted by the seat structure. This Airworthiness Directive relocates the seat stops to eliminate this possibility.
