I, PROFESSOR MARIE BASHIR, AC, CVO, Administrator of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make this Proclamation under subsections 69J (3) and (6) of the Family Law Act 1975.

1 Name of Proclamation
This Proclamation is the Jurisdiction of Courts of Summary Jurisdiction (Children) Proclamation 2006.
2 Commencement
This Proclamation commences on 1 July 2006.
3 Revocation
The Proclamation made on 6 November 1996 under subsection 69J (3) of the Act is revoked.
4 Application
This Proclamation does not apply to proceedings under section 68T of the Act.
5 Definitions
In this Proclamation: Act means the Family Law Act 1975. Perth metropolitan region means the region described in the Third Schedule to the Metropolitan Region Town Planning Scheme Act 1959 (Western Australia).
6 Jurisdiction of Courts of Summary Jurisdiction
On and after 1 July 2006, proceedings in relation to matters arising under Part VII of the Act may not be instituted in, or transferred to, a court of summary jurisdiction in the Perth metropolitan region, other than the Magistrates Court of Western Australia constituted by a Family Law Magistrate of Western Australia.
