AD/SA 315/12 - Transmission Support Platform Forward Attachment Fittings (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Eurocopter SA 315 (Lama) Series Helicopters AD/SA 315/12 Transmission Support Platform 12/2006 Forward Attachment Fittings

Applicability: Model SA 315 B helicopters not modified to AMS 2195 or LAMA Service Bulletin No. 53.05. Requirement: Inspect in accordance with LAMA Service Bulletin No. 05.17.

If cracks or distortions are detected during any inspection, before further flight, replace either the damaged stringer by a new part of the same part number, or replace the whole transmission support platform.

Note: DGAC AD 80-250-21(B) refers. Compliance: Unless the initial inspection is already accomplished, before 23 December 2006. Inspect thereafter at intervals not to exceed 400 flight hours. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 23 November 2006. Background: Reports were received of cracks on the stringer under the transmission support platform at forward attachment clamps, part number 55212.280 BGZ, on the main structure.
