AD/ECUREUIL/124 - Starter Generator (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Eurocopter AS 350 (Ecureuil) Series Helicopters AD/ECUREUIL/124 Starter Generator 2/2007

Applicability: All AS 350 B3 and EC 130 B4 helicopters, equipped with an APC 200 A starter generator part number 200SGL 130Q and without MOD 073345. Requirement: Install a placard indicating a revised maximum generator load, on the instrument panel below the VEMD, in accordance with the instructions specified in paragraph 2.B. of Eurocopter AS 350 Alert Service Bulletin (ASB) No 01.00.57 or Eurocopter EC 130 2 ASB No 04A002, as applicable, or later approved revisions. Note: EASA AD 2006-0337 refers. Compliance: No later than 110 hours time in service or 12 months after the effective date of this Directive, which ever occurs first. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 15 February 2007. Background: This Directive introduces a new placard on the instrument panel below the VEMD advising of that the maximum generator load is 180 Amperes. This revised limitation is introduced as generator load above 180 Amperes can cause excessive power consumption thus reducing the engine margin which can result in engine failure.
