AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Boeing 767 Series Aeroplanes AD/B767/228 Forward and Aft Cargo Compartments 3/2007 Water and Drain Line Heaters
Applicability: Model 767-200 and -300 series aeroplanes, as identified in Boeing Service Bulletin (SB) 767-30A0038, Revision 2, dated 23 February 2006. Note 1: For the purposes of this Directive an open cargo floor configuration, as identified in Boeing SB 767-30A0038, is a floor without panels installed between all roller trays in the cargo compartment. A closed cargo floor configuration, as identified in SB 767-30A0038, is a floor with panels installed between all roller trays in the cargo compartment. Requirement: 1. Carry out general visual inspections of the forward and aft cargo compartments in accordance with the Accomplishment Instructions of SB 767-30A0038, Revision 2, as follows: a. Foreign object debris (FOD) or contamination on, near, or around the potable water supply and grey water drain lines. b. Indications of heat damage, exposed foam insulation, or missing or damaged protective tape of all heater tape on the potable water supply and grey water drain lines. 2. If any discrepancy identified in Requirement 1.a. or 1.b. is found during any Requirement 1 general visual inspection, carry out applicable corrective action in accordance with the Accomplishment Instructions of SB 767-30A0038, Revision 2. 3. Carry out either of the following in accordance with the Accomplishment Instructions of SB 767-30A0038, Revision 2: a. Replace the heater tapes on the potable water supply and grey water drain lines of the forward and aft cargo compartments, as applicable, with Adel Wiggins ribbon heaters, or b. Deactivate and remove any defective heater tape(s) from the potable water supply and grey water drain line(s) of the forward and aft cargo compartments and wrap the drain line(s) with foam insulation.
