AD/ERJ-170/8 - Fuel Quantity Probe Harnesses (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Embraer ERJ-170 Series Aeroplanes AD/ERJ-170/8 Fuel Quantity Probe Harnesses 6/2007

Applicability: ERJ-170( ) aircraft models with serial numbers 17000005 through 17000013, 17000015, 17000016, 17000018 through 17000116, 17000118 and 17000119. Requirement: Inspect in the fuel quantity probe harnesses installed on both wings and, if necessary, reassemble them in accordance with the procedures in the Embraer Service Bulletin 170-28-0011, original issue, dated 26 April 2006 or further revisions approved by the Brazilian Agência Nacional de Avição Civil (ANAC). Note: ANAC AD 2007-01-02 refers. Compliance: Within the next 6000 hours time in service after the effective date of this Directive. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 7 June 2007. Background: The ANAC has advised that the fuel quantity probe harnesses installed in the left and right wing stub tanks on some Embraer ERJ-170( ) aircraft models may not be protected in accordance with RBHA/FAR 25.981(a) and (b) requirements. This Directive requires an inspection and, if necessary, the modification of the fuel probe harnesses to ensure that they meet the design rules.
