The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Boeing 717 Series Aeroplanes AD/B717/23 Fuel Boost Pump Container 9/2007
Applicability: McDonnell Douglas Model 717-200 aeroplanes as identified in Boeing Service Bulletin 717-28-0013, Revision 2, dated 13 September 2006. Requirement: Modify the fuel boost pump container of the centre tank by doing all the actions specified in the Accomplishment Instructions of Boeing Service Bulletin 717-28-0013, Revision 2.
Modifications accomplished before the effective date of this AD in accordance with Boeing Service Bulletin 717-28-0013, dated 28 July 2004; or Boeing Service Bulletin 717-28-0013, Revision 1, dated 7 April 2006; are considered acceptable for compliance with the corresponding action specified in this AD.
Note: FAA AD 2007-13-09 Amdt 39-15113 dated 13 June 2007 refers. Compliance: Within 78 months after the effective date of this AD, unless previously accomplished. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 30 August 2007. Background: This AD results from fuel system reviews (SFAR 88) conducted by the manufacturer. The issuing of this AD is intended to prevent exposing the fuel pump container vapour area to electrical arcing during a fuel pump motor case or connector burn through, which could result in a fuel tank explosion.
