AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/BELL 222/25 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Bell Helicopter Textron Canada (BHTC) 222 Series Helicopters AD/BELL 222/25 Amdt 1 Main Rotor Pendulum Weight Support 9/2007
Applicability: All BHTC Model 222, 222B, 222U, and 230 helicopters. Requirement: Remove main rotor pendulum weight supports part number 222-011-114-103, as identified with serial numbers having the prefix "HD", and replace with a serviceable part; in accordance with Bell Helicopter Textron Alert Service Bulletin 222-01-91, 222U-01-62 or 230-01-24, as applicable.
Note: Transport Canada AD CF-2001-28 refers. Compliance: Unless already accomplished, before 30 September 2007. This Amendment becomes effective on 30 August 2007. Background: The manufacturer received a report of an incident where one of the main rotor pendulum weight support failed, shedding the pendulum weight set in flight. Subsequent investigation revealed that the failed support had manufacturing discrepancies.
Amendment 1 is issued to include the Model 230 helicopter in applicability and change the compliance time.
