AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/CL-600/42 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Bombardier (Canadair) CL-600 (Challenger) Series Aeroplanes AD/CL-600/42 Amdt 1 Lower Wing Plank 9/2007
Applicability: Model CL-600-2B19 aircraft, serial numbers 7003 through 7869. Requirement: Action in accordance with the Requirements of Transport Canada AD CF-2001-15R1.
Note: Incorporation of the modification in accordance with Bombardier Service Bulletin 601R-57-037 Revision B, or later Transport Canada approved revision, constitutes terminating action to the inspection requirements of this Directive. Compliance: As specified in the Requirement document, with a revised effective date of 30 August 2007. This Amendment becomes effective on 30 August 2007. Background: Cracks on the left and right hand sides of the lower wing plank at wing station 148 have been discovered on a number of in-service aircraft. Failure of the lower wing plank would compromise the structural integrity of the wing.
Amendment 1 is issued in response to a revision of the related Transport Canada AD, which introduces a terminating modification to the AD repetitive inspection requirements.
