AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Bell Helicopter Textron Canada (BHTC) 206 and Agusta Bell 206 Series Helicopters AD/BELL 206/173 Disc Assemblies - Tail Rotor Driveshaft 12/2007 DM
Applicability: Bell Helicopter Textron Canada (BHTC) Model 206 series helicopters S/N up to 4618 and Model 206L series helicopters S/N up to 52340 fitted with disc assemblies P/N 32721-1. Requirement: 1. Verify disc assemblies P/N 32721-1 for manufacturing date, proper thickness and indexing, in accordance with the instructions provided in the applicable Alert Service Bulletins (ASB) listed below or later approved revisions.
206 series: ASB-206-07-114 dated 28 March 2007
206L series: ASB-206L-07-145 dated 28 March 2007
If disc assemblies, after verification in accordance with Requirement 1, do not require any further action, or if the manufacturing date is not between 1 November 2005 and 30 November 2006, make an appropriate log book entry to this effect. No further action is required.
2. Remove any disc assembly which is not within the required thickness of 0.115 - 0.127 inch (2.921 - 3.225 mm).
