Currency (Royal Australian Mint) Determination 2007 (No. 8) Currency Act 1965

1 Name of Determination
This Determination is the Currency (Royal Australian Mint) Determination 2007 (No. 8).
2 Commencement
This Determination commences on the day after it is registered.
3 Specifications of coins
For subsection 13A (1) of the Currency Act 1965, each item in Schedule 1 specifies: (a) the denomination of a coin; and (b) the coin's standard composition; and (c) the coin's standard weight, and the allowable variation from that weight; and (d) the coin's dimensions; and (e) the coin's design.
4 Application of Determination
The specifications in Schedule 1 do not affect any other determination of the specifications of a coin. Schedule 1 Specification of coins (section 3)

Item 2 $1 coin Denomination $1 Standard composition At least 99.99% silver Standard weight and allowable variation 60.46 g ± 0.85 g Maximum diameter 50.20 mm Maximum thickness 4.13 mm Shape Circular Edge Fully milled Obverse design A design consisting of: (a) a background of lines forming a whirlpool pattern; and (b) in the centre — a representation of the obverse of a 1921 Kookaburra Penny, being an effigy of King George V surrounded by the words 'GEORGIVS V D.G.BRITT: OMN. REX 1921'; and (c) around the outside — the inscriptions, (i) 'ELIZABETH II'; and (ii) 'AUSTRALIA 2008'. Reverse design A design consisting of: (a) a background of lines forming a whirlpool pattern; and (b) in the centre — a representation of the reverse of a 1921 Kookaburra Penny, being: (i) a representation of a kookaburra resting on a branch; and (ii) above that representation — the word 'AUSTRALIA'; and (iii) beneath that representation — the words 'ONE PENNY'; and (c) around the outside — the inscriptions: (i) ' '1921 KOOKABURRA PENNY' '; and (ii) 'ONE DOLLAR'.
