Currency Determination No. 8 of 1992
I, ROBERT McMULLAN, Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer, make the following Determination under the Currency Act 1965.

Citation
1. This Determination may be cited as Currency Determination No. 8 of 1992.
[NOTE: This Determination commences on gazettal: see Acts Interpretation Act 1901, ss.46A and 48.]
Interpretation
2. In this Determination:
"$5 silver satellite coin" means a coin of the denomination of $5:
(a) the specifications of which are set out in clause 4; and
(b) the design of which is set out in clause 5;
"Act" means the Currency Act 1965.
Specifications of coins
3. On and after 5 September 1992, the standard weight, the allowable variation from that standard weight, the design and the dimensions of a $5 silver satellite coin are as set out in this determination.
Specifications of $5 silver satellite coin
4 (1) The shape of a $5 silver satellite coin is circular.
(2) The edge of the coin is milled.
(3) The composition of the coin is 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metal.
(4) The standard weight of the coin is 35.79 grams.
(5) A variation of 0.63 grams from the standard weight is allowable.
(6) The diameter of the coin is 38.90 millimetres.
(7) The thickness of the coin is 3.50 millimetres.
Design of $5 silver satellite coin
5. (1) The obverse of a $5 silver satellite coin bears an effigy of the Queen and the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA" and "1992".
(2) The reverse of the coin bears:
(a) a representation of a group of satellites in the form of the Southern Cross orbiting a globe on which the Australian continent appears; and
