I, WILLIAM GEORGE HAYDEN, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council and under section 7 of the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act 1975: (a) hereby revoke: (i) the Proclamation relating to the Christmas Island National Park published in the Gazette on 21 February 1980; and (ii) the Proclamation relating to the Christmas Island (Stage 2) National Park and the Christmas Island (Stage 3) National Park published in the Gazette on 31 January 1986; and (b) after consideration by the Federal Executive Council of a report by the Director of National Parks relating to the area that was not within any of the parks referred to in subparagraph (a) (i) or (ii), hereby: (i) declare the area specified in the Schedule to be a park; and (ii) assign to the park the name "Christmas Island National Park"; and (iii) specify the depth of 1,000 metres below the surface of any land within the area so declared as the depth to which the subsoil beneath that land shall be taken to be within the park; and (iv) specify the depth of 1,000 metres below the sea-bed beneath any sea within the area so declared as the depth to which the subsoil beneath that sea-bed shall be taken to be within the park.

All that piece or parcel of land known as the NORTH EAST SECTION of the Territory of Christmas Island containing an area of 237.64 hectares more or less having boundaries commencing at a point of co-ordinates Easting 24093.33 Northing 68517.00 on the Christmas Island Grid and being on the southern side of the road from the Settlement to the North East Point and being opposite the Eastern Road from Rocky Point, such a point being located 263.85 metres at a bearing of 108°58' from Permanent Survey Mark 100 (PSM 100) as shown on The Australian Surveying and Land Information Group (AUSLIG) Plan CON-8, then following the southern side of the sealed road on a bearing 109°20' for 33.63 metres, then on a bearing 128°22' for 114.21 metres, then on a bearing 102°43' for 50.71 metres, then on
