Currency (Royal Australian Mint) Determination 2008 (No. 3)1 Currency Act 1965
I, NICK SHERRY, Minister for Superannuation and Corporate Law, make this Determination under subsection 13A (1) of the Currency Act 1965.

1 Name of Determination
This Determination is the Currency (Royal Australian Mint) Determination 2008 (No. 3).
2 Commencement
This Determination commences on the day after it is registered.
3 Specifications of coin
For subsection 13A (1) of the Currency Act 1965, each item in Schedule 1 specifies: (a) the denomination of a coin; and (b) the coin's standard composition; and (c) the coin's standard weight, and the allowable variation from that weight; and (d) the coin's dimensions; and (e) the coin's design.
4 Application of Determination
The specifications in Schedule 1 do not affect any other determination of the specifications of a coin.

Reverse design A design consisting of: (a) in the centre: (i) a representation of Mary MacKillop standing behind 3 children, superimposed on a map of the world; and (ii) a designer's mark resembling a 'G'; and (b) the inscriptions: (i) '1 DOLLAR'; and (ii) 'Mary MacKillop 1842‑1909'; and . Reverse design A design consisting of: (a) in the centre: (i) a representation of 2 people viewing the sky through binoculars; and (ii) a representation 1 person viewing the sky through a telescope; and (iii) a representation of an old sky map displaying some of the different zodiac signs, underneath a representation of tracking paths of stars; and (iv) the inscription 'CG'; and (b) in an outer ring, the inscriptions: (i) 'INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF ASTRONOMY'; and (ii) '20'.
