AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Airbus Industrie A330 Series Aeroplanes AD/A330/87 MLG Wheel Assemblies P/N 3-1509-2 6/2008
Applicability: Model A330 -301, -321, -322, -341, and -342 aircraft, all serial numbers, fitted with Messier-Goodrich main landing gear (MLG) wheel assemblies part number 3-1509-2; and without AIRBUS Service Bulletin A330-32-3167 incorporated in service. Requirement: Action in accordance with the requirements of DGAC AD F-2003-392(B).
Note: AIRBUS Service Bulletin A330-32-3167 original issue, or later DGAC/EASA approved revision, refers. Compliance: Unless already accomplished, before 30 June 2008. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 5 June 2008. Background: Operators of A330 aircraft fitted with Messier-Goodrich MLG wheel assemblies part number 3-1509-2 have reported tie bolts (inboard and outboard rim attachment bolts), broken or missing from the MLG wheel assemblies. In some cases, the wheels have ruptured and caused damage to other equipment in the adjacent area.
