AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Emergency Equipment AD/EMY/35 Life Vest Valise Zipper 6/2008
Applicability: FOLA Airsafe life vests type A-190 and A-290. Requirement: Inspect the zipper on the life vest valise and perform the actions described in FOLA Airsafe Service Bulletin 9-387 rev. A or later revision.
Note: Luftfarstsstyrelsen / Swedish Civil Aviation Authority SAD No.1-201 refers. Compliance: Within 90 days of the effective date of this Airworthiness Directive. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 5 June 2008. Background: Valises for life vests of type Airsafe A-190 and Airsafe A-290 may have an error in the zippers from manufacture. Installation of an incorrect zipper could lead to an uncontrolled inflation of the life vest.
