AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/ERJ-170/1 Amdt 2 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Embraer ERJ-170 Series Aeroplanes AD/ERJ-170/1 Amdt 3 Cargo Doors 8/2008
Applicability: Models ERJ 170-100 LR, -100 STD, -100 SE, -100 SU, -200 LR, -200 STD, and -200 SU aircraft. Requirement: 1. Accomplish a visual inspection to check that the forward and aft cargo doors are flush with the fuselage skin when closed, latched and locked, in accordance with the approved Minimum Equipment List procedures for cargo doors inoperative position indication, Chapter 52 "Doors", item 70-00.
2. Accomplish the following actions on the forward and aft cargo doors:
a. Remove and discard the cover plate from the door surround trim lining in accordance with Embraer Alert Service Bulletin (ASB) No. 170-52-A036, or later ANAC approved revision.
b. Accomplish a detailed visual inspection for signs of interference of the door handle with the aft edge liner assembly:
(i) If any interference is found, rework the aft edge liner assembly in accordance with Embraer Service Bulletin No. 170-50-0006, or later ANAC approved revision.
