AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/CL-600/83 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Bombardier (Canadair) CL-600 (Challenger) Series Aeroplanes AD/CL-600/83 Amdt 1 Wing Anti-Ice Ducts 1/2009 DM
Applicability: Model CL-600-2B19, serial numbers 7003 through 7067, 7069 through 7990, 8000 through 8076, 8082, 8086, 8090 though 8092, 8096 and 8097. Requirement: Action in accordance with the requirements of Transport Canada AD CF-2008-30. Compliance: For Part I of the Requirement document: Unless already accomplished, within 14 days after 14 November 2008.
For Part II of the Requirement document: No later than 31 December 2008.
For Part III of the Requirement document: No later than 31 December 2008.
For Part IV of the Requirement document: As specified.
For Parts V and VI of the Requirement document: As specified, with a revised effective date of 14 November 2008. This Amendment becomes effective on 14 November 2008. Background: Transport Canada received several reports of failed wing anti-ice ducts (piccolo tubes) located in the wing leading edge. Such cracking could result in air leakage, with a possible adverse effect on the anti-ice air distribution pattern and anti-ice capability, without annunciation to the flight crew.
