AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Applicability: Model 401 aircraft, serial numbers 655 and 401-0001 through 401-0322.
Model 401A aircraft, serial numbers 655 and 401A0001 through 401A0132.
Model 401B aircraft, serial numbers 401B0001 through 401B0221.
Model 402 aircraft, serial numbers 402-0001 through 402-0322.
Model 402A aircraft, serial numbers 402A0001 through 402A0129.
Model 402B aircraft, serial numbers 402B0001 through 402B0122, 402B0201 through 402B0249, 402B0301 through 402B0455, 402B0501 through 402B0640, 402B0801 through 402B0935, 402B1001 through 402B1100, 402B1201 through 402B1250, and 402B1301 through 402B1384. Requirement: Visually inspect the auxiliary wing spar near the location where the main landing gear trunnion is mounted, for cracks; in accordance with Cessna Service Bulletin MEB08-8 original issue, or later FAA approved revision.
If any crack is detected during any inspection that is 0.5-inch or more, before further flight, replace the cracked part(s).
