AD/TSA-600/25 Amdt 2 - Aft Horizontal/Vertical Stabiliser Attach Fitting - Inspection (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/TSA-600/25 Amdt 1 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Aerostar (Piper/Ted Smith) 600 and 700 Series Aeroplanes AD/TSA-600/25 Amdt 2 Aft Horizontal/Vertical Stabiliser 6/2009 Attach Fitting - Inspection

Applicability: All models 600, 601 and 601P with S/Nos. 0001 to 0807. Requirement: If not already installed, install attach fitting flange fastener kit, Piper Kit No. 59 600-88A. Note 1: USA AD 80-19-14 (Amdt 39-3915) refers. Note 2: Piper Service Bulletin No. SB600-88A refers. Compliance: If inspection in accordance with Amendment 1 of this Directive, or Piper SB No. SB600-88A Part I, has previously been performed, before accumulating 200 hours time in service since the inspection was last performed, or before 5 September 2009, whichever occurs later. If inspection in accordance with Amendment 1 or Piper SB No. SB600-88A Part I has not previously been performed, no later than 5 September 2009. This Amendment becomes effective on 4 June 2009. Background: The original issue of this Directive in 1980 specified dye-penetrant inspection in accordance with SB No. SB600-88 at intervals not exceeding 100 hours. Amendment 1 in 1980 specified visual inspection in accordance with SB No. SB600-88A at intervals not exceeding 200 hours, but did not allow termination of the inspections after installation of the attach fitting flange fastener kit. Amendment 2 ensures that all affected aircraft have the attach fitting flange fastener kit installed. The periodic inspections are terminated.
